# Delete bounced email addresses

> Remove contacts with bounced emails to maintain mailing list reputation and email deliverability.

Bounced emails impact the reputation of your mailing list and can negatively affect email deliverability. Remove contacts with bounced emails to keep your list healthy.

## Bounced vs. Dropped

**Dropped emails**: Emails being sent to addresses already known to be invalid will be dropped. This can occur if multiple senders send to the same invalid address.

**Hard bounced emails**: A permanent error that can be caused by invalid email addresses, disabled inboxes, or if a domain doesn't exist.

Kajabi automatically unsubscribes hard bounced contacts to help protect your email deliverability. [Learn more about how auto unsubscribe works](https://help.kajabi.com/articles/contacts/manage-your-contacts/how-auto-unsubscribe-helps-you-maintain-a-healthy-mailing-list).

## Remove bounced email addresses

Although Kajabi helps you manage your hard bounced contacts by automatically unsubscribing them from your email list, it is still best practice to occasionally remove hard bounced contacts from your account entirely.

<Warning>
  **Warning:** Avoid deleting contacts from your account by filtering your list to exclude certain contacts. Deleted contacts are permanently removed and cannot be recovered. If your contact has outstanding future payments (such as a recurring subscription), their future payment transactions will be cancelled upon deletion.
