Understand nameservers
Nameservers are part of a domain’s DNS settings. By updating nameservers to those specified by Kajabi, you delegate DNS management for your domain to Kajabi’s Cloudflare integration. It’s important to use only the nameservers provided in your Kajabi account during setup as these are specific to your domain.Update nameservers
Follow these steps to update your Nameservers:- Log in to your domain registrar: Access the account where you manage your domain’s DNS settings, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, or InMotion Hosting.
- Locate nameserver settings: Find the section where your domain’s nameservers are configured. This is usually under DNS management or domain settings.
- Replace existing nameservers: Use the nameservers provided by Kajabi. These may include pairs like
jermaine.ns.cloudflare.comandjoyce.ns.cloudflare.comImportant: Always refer to the Kajabi-provided nameservers displayed in your Domain settings or setup instructions for accuracy. - Save changes: Confirm the update and save your settings.
- Wait for DNS propagation: Allow up to 24 hours for the changes to propagate globally. During this time, your domain may not resolve to Kajabi immediately.
Registrar-specific instructions
Some registrars may have unique processes for updating nameservers:- InMotion Hosting: Log in to your account, navigate to DNS settings, and replace your current nameservers (e.g.,
ns.inmotionhosting.com) with the Kajabi-provided nameservers. Save changes, and allow propagation time. - Namecheap: Enter the Kajabi-provided nameservers directly into the “Custom DNS” field and save your settings.
Troubleshooting
- Troubleshooting downtime: If your Kajabi site is inaccessible after updating nameservers, confirm that only the specified nameservers are in use and no others are configured. Ensure you are using the exact pair provided in your Kajabi account.
- Custom nameservers: Avoid using general Cloudflare nameservers (e.g., alexis.ns.cloudflare.com) that are not specifically provided by Kajabi.
- Propagation time: Allow 24-48 hours for DNS propagation. Kajabi will notify you when your domain successfully connects.
After your nameservers are set, avoid these actions that can reset them:
- GoDaddy forwarding rules: Adding or editing a forwarding rule in GoDaddy resets your domain’s nameservers back to GoDaddy’s servers. If you need HTTP → HTTPS redirection, do not set this up in GoDaddy — the redirect is handled automatically once the domain is connected to Kajabi.
- Domain renewals: Some registrars restore default nameservers during a domain renewal. After renewing, verify your Kajabi nameservers are still in place.
- Domain transfers: Transferring a domain to a new registrar will reset nameservers. After any transfer, re-apply Kajabi’s nameservers.
